a5c7b9f00b A man has just been released from jail after serving a 15-year sentence. He sets out to find his former girlfriend, and tracks her down to Banshee, Pennsylvania, a small, peaceful-looking Amish town. When he gets there he is witness to the murder of the newly-arrived Sheriff, Lucas Hood. As he needs to start a new life, and nobody knew what the new Sheriff looked like, he assumes his identity. Little does he realize the danger he has put himself in. Meanwhile, his pre-prison past is catching up with him too. Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief, assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff where he continues his criminal activities. His past seems to haunt him by those he betrayed years earlier. This ex-con imposes his own brand of justice where violence erupts at every turn in the not so quiet Amish town of Banshee, Pennsylvania. That this squalid, pretentious nonsense scores 7.8 overall, in my view reflects pretty poorly on the TV-viewing public. Sadly, for my work, I have had to watch this entire series in great detail. I watch many series and movies in this way and see violence and sex on a routine basis - which is fine when they are somehow meaningful. Banshee does not have plot - merely a flimsy structure on which to hang sex and violence. It does not have characters - merely avatars for the fulfillment of the vilest fantasy. It tells us nothing about real life and fails to uplift in any way. Ask yourself whether sex and violence should become so conflated as to be almost indistinguishable, whether the more violent you are the more sexually attractive you should become. Ask also what kind of pressure young actresses feel to "put out" in this way. This is artistically and morally bankrupt garbage. I usually see only shows rated higher, but this isn't a bad one. Great action, the principal character is not a bad one and the choreography of most of the fights scenes are superb. The only bad thing of this show is all the filler sex. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to see a pair of tits once in a while and the smoking hot body of Lili Simmons, but com'on, sometimes we see three or four "sex scenes" in the same chapter, there is no need to do that, because the show is not bad. Usually the bad shows, those with a ton of bad dialogues, awful characters and a lot of plot holes use the "sex tool" to expand the list of viewers, but this show don't need that. Anyway, is an OK show, that could be better, but not anyone can make a great show. It's in the details. . . For me it's an 8.6 show, but sometimes can compete with the best productions out there.
